Everyone Gives

Happy Monday everyone. Today my best friend Laura has asked to take over The White Ruffle to share some information about a charity that she is involved with....please read!

Hi All!! 

My name is Laura, I'm an old friend of Madi's! I recently moved to Shanghai, China and have been working on a global giving campaign since the move.  I really appreciate everyone's help on this...it takes 3 minutes and only a minimum of $5 (but obviously if you feel comfortable giving more, that's even better!).  

Here are the basics:

Everyone Gives is a philanthropy event that is going on from Feb. 22-29.  

The concept is simple.  

One person starts a tree on the website Everyonegives.org, then invites their friends to donate to a charity and share the idea with either his/her social network, family and friends.  By spreading the word, branches grow on the tree.  Then those people donate and spread the word, and so on and so forth until the tree is massive and spans the globe.

Here's how to do it...

1) Go to EveryoneGives.org and click "sign up"

2) Follow the instructions to sign up

3) Search for trees: Laura Holt's Tree!

4) Click "pledge"-and decide what charity you'd like your money to go to (Laura set up hers as RefugeeOne, an agency in Chicago that helps refugees from all over the world settle in Chicago, but you can choose from over 1000+ organizations)

5) The new page will say "Donate" on the right side, click that button and you will be redirected to the charity's website directly.  Input your credit card/pay pal information on the charity's site.

See? EASY!

Hair Change

Today I am getting my hair colored after work! I have dyed my hair almost every color...I have been blonde most my life but have definitely dappled with a brunette do once or twice, and now I am thinking of trying out the new ombre trend. Here are some of my inspirations....

So, I need opinions....how do people feel about this new look? To be honest I kind of am leaning towards doing this so that I don't have to get my roots dyed every other month. I am going in this afternoon, so I need some honest feed back asap!! Opinions please:)

Weekend Recap

This weekend was a lovely one! The weather was beautiful and I so enjoyed having a mostly girls weekend! Always fun to hang out with your friends:) 

Yesterday I spent the morning at brunch at Third Coast Cafe, which was amazing! Then spent a few hours window shopping around the city with my good friend Courtney. Everywhere we went had amazing colors and beautiful spring pieces that made me giddy with excitement for warm weather and sunshine.

Weekend Recap

Hello loves, I hope you all had a great weekend! This weekend I spent a lot of time with some good friends around the city. Yesterday I saw the new movie Big Miracle with some little girls that I used to camp counselor for a few summers ago. Such a cute movie!  And then last night I went out with some great friends from school to The Bedford in Wicker Park. Here is a picture of my good friends Mary, Erin and I before heading to the bar.

Now, to the Grammys. I spent a majority of my Sunday doing random things around the apartment awaiting the highlight of my evening..the Grammys. I love music and this is one of my favorite award shows because watching all these amazing live performances just puts me in the best mood. Here are some of my favorite looks from the red carpet:

Friday Favorites

 Who else is elated that the week has finally come to an end?! I am so ready for this weekend it's not even funny. It is amazing how quickly the week started off, but by Wednesday I was fading slowly. But yay for Friday!!

Design Inspiration: Beach Love

I have decided to start doing a weekly inspiration board, let's be honest Pinterest is slowly taking over the world and I often find myself lost in the amazing images and ideas that float around on that incredible website.  So,  I have started putting some of my favorite images and ideas into "inspiration boards" as kind of a creative outlet...

This week's inspiration comes from my favorite place in the world, the beach. I grew up in Manhattan Beach, California and ever since I moved the warm weather, colors, and water in general has always inspired most of the decoration I use in all my rooms. Anthropologie Style

About a week ago I entered this random styling contest through Anthropologie in attempts to win tickets to the Ingrid Michaelson concert here in Chicago next week, and guess what....I WON! So exciting, I love Ingrid Michaelson and I can't wait to go to the concert next week. I think she is an incredibly talented artist and she has a great sense of style.
